There is no road access to Braunwald. Our hotel is reached by funicular from Linthal. Sit back, breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the peace of a car-free alpine retreat.
From Zurich Airport, the drive to Linthal Braunwaldbahn is about 95 km and takes approximately 90 minutes. From there, take the funicular up to Braunwald. By public transit, the journey from Zurich Airport takes just over 2 hours by train and funicular.
The Braunwald funicular runs every 30 minutes from 05:25 to 23:55, taking you straight from the valley station up to Panoramahotel Braunwald.

As a hotel guest, you ride the funicular for free. Each guest will need a personalized ticket in the form of the GlarnerlandPass, which we'll send to you once all guest names in your booking are confirmed in our system.
The valley station has its own SBB train stop called "Linthal-Braunwaldbahn," so switching from train to funicular is just a few steps away.
With the GlarnerlandPass, all public transportation throughout the canton of Glarus is free for the entire duration of your stay, from arrival to departure day. This includes trains, buses and the funicular between Linthal and Braunwald.

Purchase your train ticket only as far as Ziegelbrücke. From there, your GlarnerlandPass covers all public transportation in the canton of Glarus for free, including the funicular.
The S25 train runs hourly from Zurich HB to Linthal-Braunwaldbahn without any transfers. Alternatively, take the Regio-Express via Ziegelbrücke. Check timetables at sbb.ch.

Since Braunwald is car-free, you'll park at the parking lot at the valley station and take the funicular up. We'll take care of transporting your luggage to the hotel at no extra cost.

The open-air parking lot next to the valley station has space for 750 cars, including 6 electric vehicle charging stations.
When you arrive at the parking lot, drive first to the Linthal-Braunwaldbahn building. Unload your luggage and passengers at the marked "Gepäck" (luggage) area. We'll have your bags delivered directly to Panoramahotel Braunwald while you go park the car.
Wheelchairs, bikes and strollers
Both the Linthal-Braunwald funicular and the Grotzenbüel gondola are wheelchair accessible. Bikes are transported free of charge.
