We start by walking together to the Hüttenberg-Grotzenbüel valley station, where we take the cable car up to gain the first stretch of elevation. From there, we make our way via Bräch Oberstafel, passing the Bergetenseeli lake, to the striking Tüfelschilchli rock formation. We continue on to the Rietstöckli summit, where we stop and take in the views. After a steeper descent, we reach Restaurant Nussbüel for a well-earned break before heading back to Panoramahotel Braunwald.

We travel by train (8:55 am) and PostBus (9:25 am) towards the Klausenpass, arriving at Urnerboden Klus at 10:01 am. Private cars are also an option.
This is a route with some real scenery. We head first to the Gemsfairenhüttli, where there's time for a coffee stop if the mood takes you. The trail then climbs gently to the Gletscherseeli, a glacial lake nestled beneath the north face of the Clariden. After a proper lunch break — and an optional dip for the brave — we make our way up to the Klausenpass summit. The descent brings us back down to the Klus stop, where we return by car or PostBus and train.

We walk to the Gumenbahn valley station and take the gondola up. A fine ridge path leads us steeply up to the Bützi, then across a striking karst landscape to the Lauchboden alpine pasture, where we stop for lunch. With a bit of luck, you might spot protected edelweiss growing along the way — admire them, but leave them be. The descent to the Bergetenseeli lake passes through the Bärentritt, a steep but well-secured section with chains. From there, we follow forest trails via Bräch Oberstafel back to the hotel.

After breakfast, we take the Grotzenbüel cable car up to the ridge. A high-altitude path with sweeping mountain views leads us gently downhill to the Bösbächialp, where a local farmer walks us through the process of making alpine cheese from cows' and goats' milk. We get to taste several varieties — and of course buy some to take home.
From there, we make the climb up to the Seblengrat, continue to Gumen where there's an optional coffee stop, then descend to Grotzenbüel and take the cable car back down to Braunwald.
